ABOUT SILVAN
Silvan started a little unexpectedly.
Before this, I worked as a financial analyst. Jewelry making was something I did on the side because it gave me a completely different kind of focus — less screen time, more working with my hands.
I started making customized jewelry in 2022, with some early hands-on learning at Emily Carr in Vancouver, followed by a lot of independent practice. In 2023, I rented my first studio. It was tiny: enough room for my tools, one worktable, and one pair of guests at a time.
About six months later, I moved into our current Markham studio. There was more room to work, better equipment, and eventually, a small team working alongside me.
I still take classes when I can, including during trips to China and Italy. There is always another technique to learn.
WHY WORKSHOPS
The part I ended up loving most was meeting people.
A lot of our guests come as couples, friends, or family. You see them help each other, disagree over tiny design decisions, change their minds halfway through, and get genuinely excited when the ring finally comes together.
That is a big part of why I kept doing this.
MAKE SOMETHING OF YOUR OWN
We have samples in the studio, but they are there to give you ideas, not to tell you what your ring has to look like.
If you want to change a shape, combine two ideas, try a different texture, or make something we have not done before, ask us.
We believe good making starts with respecting the material. As long as an idea can be made well within the limits of the silver, the time, and the process, we’re happy to explore it with you.
Our samples are starting points, not rules.
